The Department of French is pleased to announce its proficiency course for this semester with the following details:
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The proficiency course is intended for students, lecturers, members of the university community and the general public desirous of learning French or improving their proficiency level in French to improve one’s opportunities for work, research or just to have a second language.
It is a ten-week course taken during the semester. It uses the European Common Framework for Languages and focuses on using the communicative and actional approaches to language learning. Learners in this course will therefore be taught the following core competencies:
i) Listening Comprehension
ii) Oral Expression
iii) Written Comprehension
iv) Written Expression;
Duration
3 hours a week for 10 weeks (30 hours)
12th SEPTEMBER to 18th NOVEMBER 2016
SPECIFICATIONS
Learners will be placed in groups after taking a placement test. The groups are:
Beginner Classes: A1 &A2
Intermediate Classes: B1 & B2
Morning Sessions
Twice a week from 11:30am to 1pm
Monday and Wednesday
Or
Tuesday and Thursday
Evening Sessions
Twice a week from 5:30pm to 7pm
Monday and Wednesday
Or
Tuesday and Thursday
There will be a maximum of 25 students in a class to ensure optimum teaching and learning.
