The Department of Biological, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (BEOHS), School of Public Health, University of Ghana, Legon with funding from the Project Support Unit (PSU) of Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) is pleased to announce the 1st Competency-Based Short Course on Emergency Preparedness and Management during the week of April 4-8, 2016.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The broad objective of the Competency-Based Short Course is to strengthen the capacity of governmental, non-governmental and corporate institutions in emergency preparedness and management. The overarching objective is to train participants to be able to predict, plan and manage emergencies/disasters and the challenges they present
CONTENT OF SHORT COURSE
The course structure is a Modular Design consisting of five (5) concise and easy to understand modules that can be integrated into existing programs for emergency/disaster response and management training.
COURSE MODULES
Module I Emergency Planning and Preparedness
Module II Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety
Module III Health Emergencies
Module IV Medical and Trauma Emergencies
Module V Introduction to Disaster Management
The Competency-Based Short Course is open to participants from both the public (governmental and non-governmental) & private sector, especially institutions involved in emergency preparedness and management in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
The duration of the course is five (5) days
Course venue: Yiri Lodge conference room, near the School of Public Health & Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana.
