The VC’s Green Project Team and the PDMSD wish to inform the University Community that the second stage of the tree planting exercise has been planned forFriday, 01 December, 2017 from 6am to 10am.
Please do recall that the first exercise, which took place on Sunday 22 October, 2017, involved the Ghana National Association of Adventist Students, University of Ghana (GNAAS-UG) as part of their Global Public Campus Ministries Weekend for 2017.
This second stage (slated for Friday, 01 December, 2017) will involve UTAG, GAUA, FUSSAG, TEWU and UG Alumni. It is expected that over 1,010 tree seedlings will be planted. A meeting with the leadership of the various Association will be coming off next week for further details.
The stretch of the Annie Jaggie Road (from TF Hostel to the Law Faculty) and JKM Hodasi Road, (from Law Faculty to the Registry) have been earmarked for the exercise.
We wish to state that adequate preparations have been made for digging and planting of the seedlings. Pegging of the spots for the planting and digging of holes has already been done.
Arrangements have been made to nurture the young trees and keep them alive during the months of no rainfall.
The major tree planting programme is slated for April 2018. It is expected that over 10,000 seedlings will be planted.
