Centre for Ageing Studies Launches Second Phase of Fundraising for Geriatric Care Facility

The Centre for Ageing Studies has launched the second phase of its fundraising campaign to establish an ultra-modern facility dedicated to geriatric care, research, training and advocacy.
Significant pledges were made during the event, including GH₵30,000 from the Church of Pentecost and GH₵10,000 each from Peace FM’s Kwame Sefa Kayi and the Executive Chairman of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited (TPL), Dr. Charles Amo Tobin.
A citation and gift were presented to Mr. Sefa Kayi in recognition of his continued support, following his earlier donation of 100 wheelchairs to the Centre.
Speaking at the event themed “Empowering Our Elders, Building Better Futures Together – Reloaded,” Director of the Centre, Rev. Prof. Joseph Osafo, revealed that the proposed facility will be located near the University of Ghana Medical Centre. It will house a Geriatric Service Centre of Excellence and an Ageing Research and Intervention Centre of Excellence.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, emphasised the need for sustained donor support to enable the Centre to expand its programmes, train caregivers and advocate for age-friendly policies.
The campaign seeks to position the Centre for Ageing Studies as a regional leader in ageing studies and geriatric care.
