First Hotspot Comfort Zone Commissioned to Support Student Life

The first Hotspot Comfort Zone has been commissioned to serve as a student-focused facility at the University of Ghana.

Sponsored by the University of Ghana Alumni Association (UGAA), the Comfort Zone is the first of its kind across university campuses in Ghana. It was conceived to provide students with a convenient, safe and welcoming space to rest, study or recharge between lectures. The facility includes a sitting area, internet access and washrooms, with a snack bar to be added soon.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo commended UGAA for their crucial role in making the project a reality. She urged students to take ownership of the space and maintain it as a shared responsibility. “This initiative is part of our broader vision to improve the campus experience through smart, student-focused infrastructure,” she said.

Chairperson of UGAA, Madam Doris Kisiwa Ansah, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to student welfare and praised the Vice-Chancellor’s visionary leadership. She noted that UGAA will continue to support projects that enhance academic and social life on campus.

Several other Comfort Zones are at various stages of completion across the University of Ghana, as part of the Vice-Chancellor’s three-pronged digitalisation initiative aimed at improving access, efficiency, and student comfort.
