UG Senior Management Joins 2nd Annual LIC-UG Day, Highlights Key Achievements

UG Senior Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, participated in the second annual LIC-UG Day hosted by the Legon Interdenominational Church (LIC). The event celebrated the strong partnership between the University and the Church, underscoring shared values and community support.
In her address, Prof. Amfo outlined significant milestones achieved by the University over the past year. These include the establishment of the Research and Innovation Directorate, the inauguration of the Diamond Jubilee Hostel adding 1,256 beds to the accommodation stock, and the launch of the first hotspot comfort zone on campus. She acknowledged existing challenges and called for continued prayer and support, referencing Jeremiah 29:7 to emphasise the need for collective effort.

Representing the Church, Prof. E. Kweku Osam, former Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, reaffirmed LIC’s commitment to student welfare. He disclosed that in the 2024/2025 academic year, the Church allocated Ghs117,700 to support students through initiatives such as the “A Meal a Day” project, monthly sustenance, leadership training and contributions to the UG Student Financial Aid Office.
The service concluded with an inspiring sermon by Mr. Phil Bauman, titled “Christ-Honouring Work: Treat Your Employees with Fairness,” followed by a prayer for the University’s leadership, led by Rev. Francis Yaw Boamah, Senior Pastor at LIC.
