ECG, Accra East calls on Vice-Chancellor

The newly appointed General Manager of the Accra East Regional Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Engineer Bismark Otoo, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.

The General Manager’s visit was part of efforts to get acquainted with key stakeholders in his jurisdiction, while building effective collaboration for a better service.

Eng. Otoo, who was accompanied by a delegation from his management team was glad to note that the University of Ghana (UG) was one of its major stakeholders in the Accra East Region, so it was impossible to leave it behind in his effort to engage stakeholders. He introduced the members of his management team with emphasis on their expertise and areas of responsibility. Noting that the ECG is committed to building and enhancing its collaboration and cooperation for better services, he assured Prof. Amfo of addressing the University’s concerns and challenges whenever the need arises.

The Vice-Chancellor was grateful to Eng. Otoo and his delegation for their presence.  She expressed gratitude for the relatively stable power supply the University has been enjoying and hoped it remains consistent or becomes even better. Stating the essence of electricity to the day-to-day activities of the University, and the different types of consumers on campus, Prof. Amfo called for the need to address the challenge of metering in various parts of the University to ensure effective management of power consumption. 

In brief closing remarks, the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronyah, expressed appreciation for the visit. She was hopeful and confident that the collaboration between UG and ECG will yield satisfying and rewarding experiences for other institutions to emulate.
