Ghana Gas Donates Computers to Boost Inclusive Education at UG

The University of Ghana has received 10 new desktop computers and accessories from the Ghana National Gas Company Limited to enhance inclusive education for students with disabilities through the Assistive Technology Lab.
The brief handover ceremony reflects the University’s commitment to ensuring no student is left behind while strengthening partnerships with industry to improve the student experience. The donated items included desktop computers, flash drives and Bluetooth speakers.
Speaking at the event, Head of Corporate Affairs at Ghana Gas, Mr. Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, stated that the donation aligns with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy. He revealed that a total of 145 desktop computers have so far been distributed to inclusive institutions across the country.
Receiving the items on behalf of Management, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, commended Ghana Gas for its continued support, noting the importance of such collaborations between academia and industry in fostering inclusive learning environments.
“We want to ensure that our Assistive Technology Lab continues to provide the tools, training and support that empower our students with disabilities to compete on equal footing with their peers worldwide,” Prof. Asante said.
Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, reiterated the University’s commitment to creating a conducive academic environment where all students thrive, regardless of ability or background.
Guests later toured the Assistive Technology Lab, where students and staff demonstrated the use of various assistive devices available to support learning.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the University and Ghana Gas, as well as UG staff and students.
