GRASAG Inaugurates Projects at the Valco Trust Hostels

The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG – Legon) has commissioned its newly completed projects at the Valco Trust Hostel. The projects which comprised four (4) refurbished reading rooms and one (1) Television room would provide students with serene environment for studying and relaxation.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Eric Oyemam Ato-Brown, President of GRASAG – Legon, indicated that the project was part of the Association’s contribution towards the attainment of the University’s vision of becoming a World Class research-intensive institution. According to him, graduate students of the University deserve better accommodation and study facilities.

We felt that graduate students deserve better when it comes to their study environment and sleeping area. We therefore took it upon ourselves to provide these facilities as part of our contribution to complement the University’s efforts”, Mr. Ato-Brown said.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Godfred Alufar Bokpin in his address commended GRASAG for their unrelenting support in diverse ways to the University since the inception of the Hostels and expressed hope that students would preserve and maintain the facilities for a long period. He lauded the current GRASAG administration for the efficient use of students’ dues and encouraged subsequent administrations to follow suit.

I think the GRASAG Executives have used their dues in a very appropriate manner to make reading, studying, entertainment and relaxation comfortable and I will encourage subsequent administrations to do the same” Prof. Bokpin noted.

Also present at the commissioning was Dr. James Adomako, Hall Master, Madam Sophia Yaidoo, Graduate Hostel Administrator, Nana Egyir Andzie Quainoo, Project Coordinator, Mr.  Emmanuel Asare, JCR President as well as some members of GRASAG.

Dr. James Adomako lauded GRASAG’s initiative for single handedly undertaking the projects to complement the efforts of the University. He commended them for the work done and expressed hope that similar projects would be replicated in other areas of need.

The Valco Junior Common Room (JCR) President, Mr. Emmanuel Asare also extended profound appreciation to the GRASAG President and the entire leadership for providing them with well-furnished study rooms and a TV room and assured the Association of the Hall’s support.

The Association has also commissioned a refurbished ultra-modern Research Commons at the Korle-Bu campus as well as an extension of Wifi internet services to the halls.
