HRODD Organises Training on Attitudinal Change for New Senior Staff

Mr. Daniel O. Baidoo, Director of HRODD interacting with participants

The University of Ghana, through the Human Resource and Organizational Development Directorate, (HRODD), organized a three-day training programme on attitudinal change, dubbed, Managing Attitudinal Change for Improved Productivity, from 18th to 20th January, 2017 for senior staff recruited in the last two years.  The training exercise was part of a continuous orientation exercise organized by HRODD for newly appointed employees of the University.

The training was facilitated by Management Development & Productivity Institute, (MDPI).   The facilitators made presentations on various performance and productivity related topics such as Attitude, Time Management, Work Ethics, Productivity Improvement, etc.

The Director of HRODD, Mr. Daniel O. Baidoo, in his opening remarks said that this was the fifth batch of employees of the University participating in this training programme.

Aspects of the training touched on core principles and values that help to deliver high levels of productivity and employee fulfilment and happiness.  Other areas of focus addressed endemic unhealthy workplace attitudes that subtly prevent employees from reaching peak levels of performance both at the workplace and in their personal lives.

Participants of the exercise actively participated in the discussions. They demonstrated a keen sense of enthusiasm, asked relevant questions and made good contributions to the discussions.

Some recommendations made by participants were captured in the class report of the training exercise and presented to the HRODD.

Mr. Baidoo mentioned in his closing remarks that a follow up exercise will be undertaken by HRODD, in collaboration with MDPI, to ascertain if the intended results are being achieved.  This training, he said, could not have come at a better time, given that the University is implementing the recommendations of the 10-year strategic plan, with a key strategic priority which focusses on internal stakeholders.

At the end of the session, certificates of participation were awarded to participants. The training ended with sessions of group pictures and networking among participants.
