The day which is marked on April 26 each year affords an opportunity to discuss the role of intellectual property rights in promoting creativity and innovation. This year’s celebrations provided the opportunity to enhance awareness on intellectual property within the University community.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Engineering Sciences, Prof. Boateng Onwona-Agyeman, identified three issues of importance for which awareness on intellectual property is crucial. He noted that requisite knowledge on intellectual property can safeguard researchers and institutions from losing their assets citing his personal experiences as well as cases involving some public institutions with respect to specific commercial products.
