UGBS Senior Lecturer, Dr. Benjamin Amoah Leads Personal Finance Training for UG Financial Aid Beneficiaries

The University of Ghana Students' Financial Aid Office (SFAO) hosted a financial literacy workshop focused on the "Foundational Block of Personal Financial Management" for its beneficiaries. This is the fourth in a series of workshops for the 2024/2025 academic year. The workshop is aimed at empowering students with the tools for long-term financial success.

This initiative is part of the "Enhancing Graduate Employability" project, supported by a micro-grant from The Educative Collaborative Initiative. The programme's goal is to equip students with soft skills, enabling them to build sustainable wealth and make informed financial decisions as they enter the workforce.

The facilitator, Dr. Benjamin Amoah, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and President of the Financial Literacy Educators Association Ghana (FLEAG), covered the fundamental areas of personal finance, including spending, saving, and investing. He emphasised the importance of effective planning and decision-making to optimise one's financial situation.

Dr. Amoah urged participants to assess their net worth and establish key financial safeguards like durable powers of attorney and backup executors. He also provided practical advice on cash flow management, understanding employment benefits and the path toward financial independence.
