Vice-Chancellor Receives Prof. Sir Hilary Beckles of the University of the West Indies

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.

Professor Sir Hilary Beckles is visiting the University of Ghana to participate in the 2nd Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Intellectual and Cultural Festival, under the auspices of the Institute of African Studies. Their discussions centred on  establishing partnerships with the three universities, University of Ghana, University of Ibadan and University of West Indies, (all established in 1948) in the area of medical research, and also to provide support to each other with the building of a green university. The two Vice-Chancellors noted that the upcoming 70th anniversaries in 2018, was an opportunity to link up with each other for mutual benefit.  

Other issues discussed was on faculty and student exchange.  Prof. Sir Beckles also used the occasion to inform Prof. Oduro Owusu of the commissioning of a four-storey administration building by the Asantehene, Otumfour Nana Osei Tutu II, which he said has been designed in the shape of the Golden Stool.

Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu expressed his appreciation to Professor Sir Hilary Beckles for his readiness to collaborate and have a joint 70th anniversary celebrations with the University of Ghana.
