The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Manish Gupta, recently met with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo to discuss potential collaborations between Indian and Ghanaian universities.
The High Commissioner expressed a strong desire to strengthen partnerships with universities in Ghana, highlighting the University as a key institution for collaboration.
He recounted that India's first Prime Minister was dedicated to achieving independence and investing in human capital, which saw the establishment of many prestigious universities and engineering institutes under his leadership. This, the High Commissioner said, presents an opportunity for cross-border collaborations in education to promote development.
H.E. Gupta noted that education has always been a central focus in Ghana and observed significant similarities between the education systems of India and Ghana. He remarked on the potential for deeper collaboration between the two countries, given India's emerging democracy and demographics. “Both governments are actively working to foster people-to-people ties and numerous Indian universities are engaging with Ghana” further mentioned.
