GNPC Foundation Donates Laptop to Student with Special Need

The Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) Foundation has donated a laptop to a UG student with special needs at a brief presentation ceremony held at the Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO) Conference Room.

Miss Nana Serwaa Owusu-Akyaw is a student with visual impairment and a beneficiary of the GNPC Foundation local scholarship. She made a formal request to the Foundation for a laptop to help facilitate her studies.

GNPC Foundation has been one of the benevolent sponsors of the University of Ghana Student Financial Aid Office for over 10 years. Their scholarship covers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Caroline Aggrey-Fynn, Head of the Education and Training Unit at the GNPC Foundation, said that the aim of the Foundation is to support, empower and impact lives. She added that after several deliberations by the Board, Miss Owusu-Akyaw’s formal request was granted.

Mr. Joseph Miah, a trustee board member of the GNPC Foundation, presented the laptop to the beneficiary. He advised that the laptop be used effectively, to facilitate the studies of the beneficiary.

Miss Owusu-Akyaw expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the support and promised to make good use of the laptop as intended.

Ms. Selina Torrison Saaka, Head of SFAO, thanked the Foundation on behalf of the University for its benevolence.  She encouraged them to consider supporting the Vice-Chancellor’s One Student, One Laptop Initiative.
