Refurbished Conference Room at the Jean Nelson Hall Commissioned
The JCR Executives of Jean Nelson Aka Hall, with support from the Aka family, have commissioned a new 100-seater multi-purpose conference room.
This fully air-conditioned facility has a customised podium, a 65-inch television and audio equipment to enhance presentations and meetings.
JCR President of Jean Nelson Aka Hall, George Annor Ansah, during the commissioning disclosed that the previous JCR administration began the project, which was put on hold due to financial constraints. He expressed gratitude to the Aka family for their generous support towards the completion of the project with a sum of GHC 2,000.00 and a customised podium.
Senior Hall Tutor, Prof. Stephen Afranie, thanked JCR Executives of the Hall as well as other partners for their mobilisation efforts towards the project.
The commissioning was followed by a Memorial Lecture themed, "Service with Purpose: For Your Absence to be Remembered, Your Presence Must be Impactful," held in the newly commissioned Rose Aka Conference Room.
Delivering the Lecture, Film director, Actor and Producer Mr. Pascal Aka, said the address was aimed at honoring the principles of service, purpose and impact.
Reflecting on his late father Dr. Jean Nelson Aka’s advice to him during his adolescence, "Whatever you do in life, do it well", he stressed the importance of making a lasting impression and leaving behind a meaningful legacy.
Citing the late Nelson Mandela, Mr. Aka emphasised that the significance of one's life lies in the difference made in the lives of others, underscoring the limited nature of time and the enduring impact one can create.
Concluding with the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others," Mr. Aka encouraged students to chart their own paths, pursue their visions and strive for success.
Representing the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, Vice-Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. C.B. Wiafe-Akenteng in advising students noted that, ‘to leave a legacy you must persevere, you must persist and you must have resilience. Within your own small corner, what impact are you having? Strive to be excellent and aim at the bigger picture. Do your best so that you can walk chest-out.’
UG SRC Women’s Commissioner, Ms. Sandra Amponsah Yeboah eulogised the late Dr. Jean Nelson Aka.
Also, in attendance were Hall Management and JCR Executives.
