UG, GNCCI Launch Junior Chamber to Drive Student Entrepreneurship

The University of Ghana, in partnership with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), has launched the UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber, a groundbreaking initiative designed to equip students with hands-on entrepreneurial skills and real-world business exposure.
The initiative, led by the University’s Careers and Counselling Centre, aims to foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem among Ghana’s youth by providing capacity-building programmes, mentorship, business support services, internship opportunities, and practical skills training.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo highlighted the strategic relevance of the initiative, linking it to the University’s Strategic Priorities on Transformative Student Experience and Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships.
“This is for us. Our future starts now,” she stated, urging students to take full advantage of the platform.
Serving as Guest Speaker, former Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, emphasised the crucial role of entrepreneurship in Ghana’s development. He encouraged students to reimagine their economic participation, not only as job seekers but as innovators and creators of opportunity.
President of the GNCCI, Mr. Stephane Miezan, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting young people beyond academic achievement, stating, “Our goal is to help build sustainable businesses and develop capable, confident entrepreneurs for Ghana’s future.”
To cement the collaboration, the University of Ghana and GNCCI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalising their shared commitment to promoting youth entrepreneurship and business innovation.

The UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber marks a significant step in institutional efforts to prepare students for leadership and self-driven success in Ghana’s evolving economic landscape.
