UG Professor William Baah-Boateng Appointed Vice-Chancellor of Methodist University Ghana

The Council of Methodist University Ghana (MUG) has appointed Prof. William Baah-Boateng as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University for an initial term of four years, effective August 1, 2025.

Prof. Baah-Boateng, a distinguished economist and faculty member of the University of Ghana, brings to his new role a wealth of academic, administrative, and policy experience spanning over 25 years. He is highly regarded both nationally and across the African continent for his expertise in labour economics, development policy, and institutional transformation.

A proud alumnus of the University of Ghana, Prof. Baah-Boateng made history as the first academic to be promoted to the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Economics in 50 years. His academic journey includes a PhD in Economics and further training at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.

Throughout his career, he has contributed extensively to economic research and national policy dialogue and is widely respected for his commitment to evidence-based policymaking and institutional reform.
