Rev. Dr. Abamfo Atiemo, Chairman of the University of Ghana Chaplaincy Board who officiated the Service
The 2018 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols to usher in the Christmas festive season recently took place on the grounds of the University’s Information Centre.
Rev. Dr. Abamfo Atiemo, Chairman of the University of Ghana Chaplaincy Board who officiated the Service, in his exhortation, called on the faithful to look to Jesus Christ and His power, describing it as one that never “fails or disappoints”.
The nine lessons, interspersed with Carols were read by representatives from various units of the University.
First Lesson - God tells the sinful Adam that he has lost the life of paradise and that his
seed will bruise the serpent’s head.

The offertory prayer was done by Prof. Godfred Bokpin, Acting Dean of Student Affairs.
A unique feature of the Service was the lighting of the Candle and Christmas tree which was done by Miss. Arianne Sheryl Asamoah a pupil of the University of Ghana Basic School.
Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Director of Public Affairs, moved the Vote of Thanks. She was grateful to the Chaplaincy Board for the collaborating role with Public Affairs in implementing the service which she said, had become institutionalised. While appealing to members of the community to participate in subsequent services, she recognised the enthusiasm with which the student choirs consistently demonstrated interest in it in spite of the fact that it was during the examinations period. She recognised the leading role of the Music Department, and acknowledged Mr. T.E. Andoh, a former Head and Director of the UG Jubilee Choir and Dr. Ben Amakye Boateng for their support. Mrs. Amoa also thanked management for the support as well as the team at Public Affairs Directorate for working hard to ensure the success of the Service.
In attendance were the University of Ghana Jubilee Choir, Pax Romana Choir, the Music Department Choir, and a new entrant, the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research Choir.
