GAUA Elects New Executives

Mrs. Cynthia Adu

The Legon Branch of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the Association.  Mrs. Cynthia Adu, Senior Assistant Registrar at the College of Education was elected President along with eight other members during a General Meeting held at  the Basement of the Great Hall.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Cynthia Adu expressed her sincere appreciation to all members for the confidence reposed in her by electing her to lead the Association.  She requested members to give the leadership the needed support to ensure a successful tenure.  She assured members of their desire to continue with the work of their predecessors and ensure a vibrant and strong association.

Other executives members who were sworn in at the ceremony were: Vice-President, Mr. Anab Anaamoatulim; General Secretary Mr. Matthew Danquah; Vice-General Secretary, Mrs. Barbara K. Blankson; Treasurer, Mr. Samuel Nkrumah; Editor, Elizier Ameyaw-Buronyah; and three elected executive members, namely, Mr. Michael Owusu Ansah, Mr. Ishmael A Essien, and Mr. Emmanuel Godwyll.

The General Meeting also afforded members the opportunity to deliberate on other issues such as membership, welfare, and advancement.  The Association decided to provide financial support to some members of the University of Ghana sports team.

A minute’s silence was observed for the late Dr. Akua Nketsiah Adjapong, a medical officer at the University Hospital, who passed away at the Legon Hospital and who was buried on Saturday, 1st April 2017 in Accra.
