International Programmes Office Receives Delegation from USA

The International Programmes Office of the University of Ghana has received a twenty four (24) member delegation from the United States of America.

The delegation which comprised Registrars and Deans from a number of Universities in the United States of America was led by Ms. Rita Adubra Asante, Commercial Assistant and Mr. Joseph Snapp, Commercial Specialist both at the US Embassy.

Welcoming the delegation, the Assistant Registrar, Mr. Daniel Hormeku took them through the history of the University, programmes of study and campus life of students.

Ms. Adubra Asante explained that the purpose for the visit was to interact with University community and forge effective partnerships. She further added that the visit was in line with their annual exchange programme, where officials from a number of Universities from the USA meet the University of Ghana community.

Mr. Hormeku later explained that, the University was putting in much effort and was prepared to accept fruitful collaborations that would aid in exchange programmes and increase students’ admission.

He further called on partners interested in education to partner with the College of Education since it is the youngest of the Colleges. He also made a special appeal to the delegation to petition the USA Consular to make the visa process for Ghanaian students to the USA more flexible.

Mr. Joseph Snapp expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and hoped that, the students and teachers exchange programmes would create more avenues for partnerships. He also advised the delegation to ask questions without any hesitation.

The delegation later took a tour of the University.
