The flagship breast cancer awareness campaign led by Dr. Lily Paemka, Human Molecular Geneticist and Lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, aims to empower African communities with comprehensive breast cancer education, promote early detection and advocacy to address the disproportionately high mortality rates. Thus, the Foundation engages with local communities and collaborates with other organisations, medical institutions and businesses to raise funds, promote awareness and support breast cancer patients and survivors.

Since its inception in 2018, the programme has facilitated free screening for over 2,500 individuals. Nufufest’s efforts have led to increased awareness and knowledge about breast cancer risk factors, early detection methods and the importance of regular screenings.

Reacting to this global recognition, Dr. Lily Paemka, who is also the Founder and Director, Nufu Foundation, stated that “Nufufest is more than just a campaign; it’s a movement that empowers women to take charge of their health and well-being. Our dedicated team of students and volunteers have been instrumental in driving this mission forward, and we are proud to see the positive impact their efforts have had on our communities.”
