UG-UTAG Donates 25 Laptops to Support 1S1L Initiative

The University of Ghana Chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has donated 25 laptops to support the One-Student-One-Laptop (1S1L) project launched by the Vice-Chancellor, in April this year.  

Speaking at the donation ceremony, the President of UTAG-UG, Dr. Samuel Nkumbaan, indicated that the members of the Union mooted the donation idea to the Executive Committee of UTAG-UG, as a way of contributing to the laudable project.

He further reiterated how the 1S1L initiative would enhance teaching and learning by bridging the digital divide.  

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who received the donation on behalf of the University Management, expressed delight and noted the commitment of teachers towards equipping students, so that after their university education, they will be technologically adept and will be amenable to the factors that they have to deal with at the work place. 

Prof. Amfo indicated that the donation is a sign of the commitment of UTAG (UG) to the training of 21st Century students.

The Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, was full of gratitude for the UTAG support. She considered this a worthy course to be emulated by other Staff Unions at the University. 

Other members of UTAG (UG) present were Prof. Ransford Gyampo, Secretary; Dr. Samuel Kojo Kwofie, Vice President and Dr. Inusah Salifu, Representative of the College of Education.
