University of Ghana at 70: College of Education Launches Anniversary Celebrations

The College of Education as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the University has launched its anniversary participation with fun games and a tree planting exercise at the Athletics Oval Pavilion.

The event was well attended by faculty and students who actively took part in traditional and creative games organised by the College. The games which run concurrently with the tree planting exercise took place on the Boundary road near GIMPA. In all, 96 trees were planted on the University campus.

Mr. C. K. Bruce, a member of the College Advisory Board officially launched the celebration noting that, the College of Education has grown from strength to strength in spite of being the youngest College in the University. He gave an assurance of the support of the College’s Advisory Board in attaining its vision of being an ICT-led educational institute.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee Professor Olivia Kwapong outlined upcoming events for the College which includes a Durbar and a Colloquium. In his remarks, Prof. Michael Tagoe, Acting Provost of the College, commended participants for their massive attendance and called on everyone to support and actively participate in the outlined activities for the celebration. He also admonished the participants to support the College as it strives to achieve a good image in the University.

As part of the launch, some students from the Department of Physical Education and Sports demonstrated through various sporting activities, diverse ways of cultivating entrepreneurial skills and values such as teamwork, creativity and risk taking.
