University of Ghana Awarded $800,000.00 Grant by the Andrew Mellon Foundation to Support Research in the Humanities

 

The Board of Trustees of the Andrew Mellon Foundation has approved a grant of eight hundred thousand US dollars ($800,000) to the University of Ghana, to support a new project titled: Re-invigorating Humanities Research at the University of Ghana. It covers the period 2018 to 2022 and focuses on research themes in the Arts, Performing Arts, Languages, Humanistic Social Sciences, African Studies, Asian and Latin American Studies.    

The proposal submitted by Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs) and Prof. Samuel Agyei-Mensah, Provost College of Humanities had immense support from the Vice-Chancellor Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. Others who worked on the proposal are Mr. Benedict Fosu Adjei, Senior Assistant Registrar, Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, (Academic and Student Affairs), Mrs. Afia Serwaa Attrams, Research Development Officer, Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID), and Mr. Collins Amofah Senior Accountant at ORID. Project Leaders for the main thematic groups as well as the small team projects in the participating Schools, Institutes and Centres in the College of Humanities are also to be commended for their efforts in winning the grant.
