University of Ghana Participates in the 2019 Worldwide Universities Network Annual General Meeting and Conference

The 2019 Annual General Meeting (2019) and Conference of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) was held at the University College of Dublin, Ireland from 19th to 24th May. The theme was “Liberal Education for the 21st Century”. This year’s programme included a special session for students hosted by students of the 23-member universities of WUN. The topic for this special session was “Student Mental Health”.

The delegation of University of Ghana was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu and included, Prof. Francis Dodoo, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, ORID, Prof. Andrew Anthony Adjei, WUN Coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, Coordinator, WUN Global Africa Group and two students. The University sponsored two students to the event to attend the session hosted by the students. However, delays in the issuance of visa led to the failure of the students to attend the event.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, reiterated the need to build the moral and ethical values of students when he spoke on what needs to be done to improve liberal education during the “President Forum”.

The Vice-Chancellor held side meetings with a number of Presidents on collaboration in the areas of research, staff and student exchanges and other collaborations. The Vice-Chancellor had discussions with the Presidents of the Universities of Sheffield, Bristol, Southampton, Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. The Vice-Chancellor was invited by the Presidents of Southampton and the Chinese University of Hong Kong to visit.
