Vice Chancellor Receives Canadian High Commissioner

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu and H.E. Heather Cameron, the Canadian High Commissioner

The Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Heather Cameron, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.

Welcoming her, Prof. Oduro Owusu expressed optimism that the University’s existing collaboration with the Government of Canada will be strengthened.

Among issues discussed was the strengthening of the bond between Ghana and Canada through education.   H.E. Heather Cameron noted that because the Government of Canada is providing financial assistance to the Ghana Government towards the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, it was important to draw the University of Ghana in, considering that the University of Ghana is one of the institutions in Africa noted for research into Agriculture and also has the needed human resource with the requisite skills for fieldwork.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Canadian Government for the thought of roping The University of Ghana in its programme and intimated that the opportunity will afford faculty a bigger platform for research.

The High Commissioner was appreciative of the positive response and assurance of the University’s involvement in their programme and hoped there would be broader collaborations in the future.

The Vice Chancellor presented a gift to the Canadian High Commissioner.
