UG Set to Participate in the 2025 Pan-African University Debate Championship (PAUDC)

The University of Ghana Debate Society will participate in the 2025 Pan-African University Debate Championship (PAUDC), scheduled to take place at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Championship, one of the continent’s most prestigious intellectual competitions, will run from 1st to 8th December 2025. The University of Ghana contingent will depart Accra on 30th November and return on 8th December 2025.

UG will be represented by a vibrant and highly competitive delegation made up of thirteen (13) debaters, organised into 5 Debate Teams, 3 Adjudicators and 6 Public Speakers. The Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah is the leader of delegation. The Team, selected through a rigorous internal ranking and training process, reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to transformative student experience and nurturing innovative young leaders.

Participation in the PAUDC offers students the opportunity to engage with top-tier debaters across the continent, deepen their understanding of global and African issues, and showcase the University’s excellence in academic discourse and public speaking. Over the years, the University of Ghana has built a strong reputation in debating circuits, and this year’s delegation is poised to continue that tradition.

Speaking ahead of the championship, the Director of Sports and Wellness, Dr. Austin Luguterah expressed strong confidence in the team’s level of preparation and encouraged the debaters to give off their best, uphold professionalism and project the image of the University of Ghana with pride and excellence.

We wish the team a successful tournament and a memorable experience in Johannesburg!
