New York Construction Mall Donates Laptops to Support VC’s ‘1S1L Initiative’

A delegation from the New York Construction Mall led by Mr. Kwame Obeng, General Manager, has donated ten laptops to support the Vice-Chancellor’s ‘One Student One Laptop Initiative (1S1L).’  

Mr. Kwadwo Obeng, General Manager of New York Construction Mall, who made the presentation on behalf of the company, indicated that the company is honored to contribute its quota to the University's great initiative. He stated that since his company relies heavily on technology for many of its operations, they find the Vice-Chancellor's technology-oriented initiative a worthwhile programme to support.

Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor, who received the laptops, expressed her gratitude to the donors and stressed that the relationship established stems from a shared interest in harnessing technology for educational and commercial benefits. She expressed the hope that the rapport established by the gesture will lead to future collaboration.

Prof. Peter Quartey, Chairman of the '1S1L Implementation Committee and Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER), expressed gratitude to the company on behalf of the student beneficiaries, noting that the donation will have a positive impact on their academic lives.

Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar, underscored the University’s desire to produce well-rounded students, who are ready to compete in the 21st century and face challenges in the modern world, rather than students who are only limited to their area of study. “As a result, this type of initiative, which introduces students to technology at an early stage, is a great step toward producing the type of well-rounded students that the University seeks,” she reiterated.
