Ug Faculty Participate In University Of Stellenbosch Summer School

The Legon Delegates at the Stellenbosch Summer School

As part of the collaboration between the University of Ghana Pan African Doctoral Academy (UG-PADA) and the Stellenbosch University African Doctoral Academy (SU-ADA), a six-member team made up of faculty from the four Colleges was sponsored to participate in a Summer School held at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa, from the 16th to the 23rd of January 2016.

The team was made up of Professor Cephas Omenyo, Provost, College of Education, Professor Nana Aba Amfo and Professor George Owusu from the College of Humanities, Professor Moses Aikins from the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Rosina Kyerematen from the College of Basic & Applied Sciences, and  Professor Esther Sakyi-Dawson, Director, Academic Quality Assurance.

They participated in a Doctoral Supervision course, intended to be a ‘Training of Trainers Programme for Supervisors’, is expected to equip them to train other members of faculty, as well as  to assist  the Director of Academic Quality Assurance to organize training for supervisors within their respective Colleges with support from the UG-PADA.

The UG Pan-African Doctoral Academy (UG-PADA) was established by the University, with support from Carnegie Corporation of New York, to provide focused attention on specific skill gaps and opportunities for improving the knowledge of doctoral candidates, to enhance PhD output; to support post-graduate programme delivery as well as the development and delivery of new PhD programmes.

It is expected that the anticipated improvements in PhD recruitment and outputs will go a long way to enhance the profile and reputation of University of Ghana.
